This exciting modern home replaced a former flood damaged property near to Durham City Centre. The bungalow combines Structurally Insulated Panel System (SIPS) construction with traditional stone, timber cladding and Corus metal roof materials.
The house has substantial green credentials including rain water harvesting, PV solar panels, heat recovery, very low air leakage and high levels of thermal insulation. The house will provide an internal gross area of 170sqm/ 1,829sqft.
Edelweiss’s contemporary design was welcomed by the planning department. The replacement house includes flood mitigation measures and bat boxes to encourage ecological activity on the site.
